Guide

Tools and the tasks they cover.

Each tool runs in your browser. Text, passwords, and hashes stay on this device. Pick a task below, then open the tool.

Writing

Word counter

Open tool

Measure a piece of writing while you edit it. Counts update on every keystroke.

Tasks

  • Check a word limit

Paste a draft and read the word count before you send an email, post, or assignment.

  • Check a character limit

Use Characters for the full string, or No spaces when the limit ignores whitespace.

  • Estimate reading time

Reading time assumes about 200 words per minute and rounds up to at least one minute.

How to use it

  1. Open Word counter.
  2. Paste or type the text.
  3. Read words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and reading time.
  • A sentence is text split on . ! or ?.
  • A paragraph is a block separated by a blank line.

Case converter

Open tool

Rewrite the same words in a different case without retyping them.

Tasks

  • Fix shouting or inconsistent caps

Switch to lower case, Sentence case, or Title Case.

  • Name a variable or file

Use camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, or kebab-case. Spaces, underscores, hyphens, and slashes are treated as word breaks.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text.
  2. Choose a case. The result updates immediately.
  3. Copy the result.
  • camelCase starts with a lowercase word. PascalCase capitalizes every word.

Lorem ipsum

Open tool

Fill a layout with placeholder paragraphs when the real copy is not ready.

Tasks

  • Fill a mockup

Set how many paragraphs you need, from 1 to 12, then copy the text into the design.

  • Get a fresh sample

Generate replaces the current text with a new passage of the same length.

How to use it

  1. Set the paragraph count.
  2. Click Generate if you want a different passage.
  3. Copy text.
  • Changing the paragraph count writes a new passage at that length.

Developer

JSON formatter

Open tool

Make a JSON document readable, shrink it, or see why it will not parse.

Tasks

  • Pretty-print a payload

Format indents objects and arrays with 2 or 4 spaces.

  • Minify before you paste it elsewhere

Minify removes insignificant whitespace and keeps the same data.

  • Find a syntax error

Format or Minify shows the parser message when the input is not valid JSON.

How to use it

  1. Paste JSON, or click Load example.
  2. Choose an indent.
  3. Click Format or Minify.
  4. Copy the output.
  • The tool checks syntax only. It does not call an API or change key order beyond what JSON.parse produces.

Base64

Open tool

Turn text into Base64, or turn Base64 back into text, including characters outside ASCII.

Tasks

  • Encode a string

Paste plain text and click Encode. The output is standard Base64.

  • Decode a string

Paste Base64 and click Decode. Invalid input shows an error instead of garbled text.

How to use it

  1. Paste the input.
  2. Click Encode or Decode.
  3. Copy the output.
  • Unicode is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before Base64, so emoji and non-Latin text round-trip.

URL encoder

Open tool

Escape a value so it can sit inside a query string, or unescape one you copied from a URL.

Tasks

  • Prepare a query value

Encode turns spaces, &, ?, and other reserved characters into percent-encoding.

  • Read an encoded value

Decode turns percent-encoding back into the original text.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text or the encoded value.
  2. Click Encode or Decode.
  3. Copy the output.
  • This uses encodeURIComponent and decodeURIComponent, so it encodes a component, not a full URL you still need to keep readable.

Hash generator

Open tool

Fingerprint text with SHA-1 and SHA-256. Both hashes update as the text changes.

Tasks

  • Compare two copies of a string

Hash each copy. Matching SHA-256 values means the text is the same.

  • Get a checksum to paste into a ticket or config

Copy the SHA-256 row. SHA-1 is there when an older system still asks for it.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste the text.
  2. Copy SHA-256 or SHA-1.
  • Hashes are hexadecimal. This does not hash files, only the text in the box.

Generate

Password generator

Open tool

Create a random password from the length and character sets you turn on.

Tasks

  • Make a new password

Set the length from 8 to 64, leave the sets you want, and click Generate.

  • Match a site's rules

Turn symbols off when a form rejects them, or turn numbers off when it only wants letters.

How to use it

  1. Set the length.
  2. Check the character sets.
  3. Click Generate.
  4. Copy password.
  • Ambiguous characters are left out: lowercase l, uppercase I and O, and the digits 0 and 1.
  • Symbols are !@#$%^&*_-+=?.
  • The password is created in the browser and is not saved.

UUID generator

Open tool

Create version 4 UUIDs for database ids, test fixtures, and request ids.

Tasks

  • Create one id

Set the count to 1, generate, and copy that row.

  • Create a batch

Ask for up to 20 ids and use Copy all. Each id is on its own line.

How to use it

  1. Choose how many ids you need.
  2. Click Generate.
  3. Copy one row or Copy all.
  • Ids come from the browser's crypto.randomUUID, so they are version 4.

Convert

Timestamp

Open tool

Read the current Unix time, turn a timestamp into a date, or turn a local date into Unix time.

Tasks

  • See the time right now

The seconds and milliseconds clocks tick once a second.

  • Read a timestamp from a log

Paste a number. Values under 1 trillion are treated as seconds. Larger values are milliseconds.

  • Get a timestamp for a local date

Pick a date and time. The tool returns Unix seconds and milliseconds.

How to use it

  1. Copy the live clock, or paste a Unix timestamp.
  2. Read the local time and the UTC time.
  3. Or pick a local date and copy the Unix values.
  • Local output uses your browser's timezone. UTC is the ISO-8601 form.

Color converter

Open tool

Look at one color as hex, RGB, and HSL, with a swatch.

Tasks

  • Pick a color

Use the color picker. Hex, RGB, and HSL update together.

  • Convert a hex code

Type a 3-digit or 6-digit hex value, with or without #.

How to use it

  1. Pick a color or type a hex code.
  2. Copy the RGB or HSL line.
  • HSL values are rounded to the nearest whole number.

Unit converter

Open tool

Convert length, weight, or temperature in one place.

Tasks

  • Convert a length

Length covers millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, and miles.

  • Convert a weight

Weight covers milligrams, grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds.

  • Convert a temperature

Temperature covers Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.

How to use it

  1. Choose Length, Weight, or Temperature.
  2. Enter the amount and the two units.
  3. Use Swap to reverse the conversion.
  • The result shows up to six decimal places and drops trailing zeros.

Percentage

Open tool

Answer the three percentage questions that show up in prices, grades, and growth.

Tasks

  • Find a percent of a number

    What is X% of Y? For example, 15% of 240 is 36.

  • Find what share one number is

X is what percent of Y? For example, 36 is 15% of 240.

  • Raise or lower a number by a percent

    Starting from 80, a 25% increase is 100 and a 25% decrease is 60.

How to use it

  1. Use the card that matches the question.
  2. Type the two numbers.
  3. Read the result under the fields.
  • A whole of 0 has no percentage, so that result stays blank.
